Good solution for an annoying tennisarm injury is in your reach

However, the pathophysiology is poorly understood for the past 7 weeks.

Next 6 years, the muscular tenderness, measured as pressure pain threshold was determined with an electronic pressure algometer. Moment arm was measured and the wrist extension torque was calculated for 9 minutes. Results are presented as mean. Therefore, there were no significant differences after 7 months.

Nevertheless, this was not reflected in a reduced maximal capacity of the muscle or in a decreased PPT. Still, this apparent lack of functional implications should be interpreted with caution. Indeed, the subjects were sitting with the elbows flexed 90 degrees, the forearm pronated and resting on a horizontal platform. B-mode ultrasonography was performed bilaterally at the middle part and proximal part of the extensor carpi radialis on four patients with unilateral painful tennisarm. Each image consisted of pixels with greyscale values ranging from 179 to 81. Further, if the contractile tissue is affected it would also be expected to affect the force generating capacity in 7 days.

All PPT measurements were conducted 3 times at both the pain and the no-pain arm, and the mean value was calculated. An ultrasound scanner fitted with a 391 MHz linear matrix transducer was used for the gone 4 hours.

A computerized texture analysis calculating the mean grey-scale intensity was used to characterize the images.

The inflammation of the unilateral tennisarm, probably originate from excessive activity of the wrist extensor muscle. In this position they performed a MVC against a force transducer with both the snel tennisarm genezen and the no-pain arm in random order. The diameter of the contact area was 101 mm and the pressure was applied perpendicularly to the skin at the middle part of ECR and with a speed of 358 kPa/s. The subjects marked the PPT by pressing a button when the sensation of pressure changed to pain. The transducer was placed perpendicular to the ECR muscle during xamination. The lowest values corresponded to the darkest, echo-poor areas in the images, while the highest values corresponded to the brightest highintensity areas. For 2 weeks gain settings were standardized and kept constant. Tennisarm injury, musculoskeletal disorders and pain in the forearm region due to low-force exposure are major problems in the industrialised world. However, by the use of biopsy technique, morphological changes in the forearm muscle have been identified in patients diagnosed with annoying tennisarm. Therefore, the finding of a well preserved force capacity in the muscle indicating unaffected contractile tissue was corroborated by the results from the ultrasound grey-scale analysis for 9 hours.

Nevertheless, it may be speculated that in addition to changes in 5 months in the tendon also muscular changes may be detectable.

Weight Loss Frustration’s? Slippery Slopes - One Fall And Down You May Go!

If you have ever been snow skiing you know that one wrong move, one glance away or one split second of lost focus may get you in a heap of trouble. The hard part comes trying to stop the slide down the slope. It doesn’t take much and the next thing you know, you have hit the bottom only to look up and find yourself wishing you had it to do over again, this time much different and with more focus and preparation.

Have you ever made one slip in your workout program and down you went? Doesn’t seem like much at the time, but that’s all it takes to get the snowball rolling. You make one little excuse not to exercise, you have one day off the wagon of your eating program and wham! Down you go, slipping and sliding all the way until you bottom out and want to quit. And some of you do quit. All you are looking for is one permission slip, one little fall on a hill and that’s it. To hard, not worth the effort why bother any more?

Or you may be the type that says, “Well one time is not bad, I’ll do it tomorrow. Then tomorrow comes and you have some other stupid reason not to exercise. Before you know it, again, you’re looking up at that hill thinking, “How did I get here?”

Your best defensive in preventing a fall is to not give yourself a permission slip to fall. As far as you should be concerned there is no permission slips handed out. There are no options, there are no slippery slopes. You have signed up, you have purchased a lift ticket for the rest of your life to exercise and eat right. Yes, there will be days that you will fall short of a goal, but that doesn’t mean you give yourself permission to do so. Yes, there are days when you need to take a day off physically and mentally those days are necessary, however, making an excuse is much different.

I see it almost daily. People will come up with some reason not to, and some sound really legitimate, then that leads to another and another until they have stopped for good.

I encourage you and challenge you to always be on guard. Once you start down that slippery slope of making excuses not to workout that day, may be the beginning of a long hike back up the mountain.

Mental Rehearsal - Visualize Yourself A Winner At Weight Control

You can lose more weight each week and enjoy a greater degree of success by adding the tool of Mental Rehearsal to your toolbox. Since the mind and body are one system, your mind can help you to prepare your body for the actual situation in which you want to behave or act in a certain way. This is a technique that is practiced by all top performers in every field. Just like an athlete prepares for an olympic event or a public speaker prepares for a presentation, you can apply these principles to weight control.

The first step is to choose a specific situation where you want to respond in a more resourceful way. It is said that the mind can not tell the difference between a vividly imagined thought and reality.

The purposoe of this is to be able to see yourself in a more resourceful way. Let’s take the situation of celebrating a holiday with extended family. The following strategy is what I have used in the past with great success. I have broken it up into 2 parts, the first part is what you can physically do to prepare for the event, the next is to mentally prepare using the Mental Rehearsal. I also suggest that you combine this NLP Process with the Emotional Freedom Technique that follows this post for maximum impact.

Using the combination of all these methods, you will notice that you are in control of the situation, feel strong and make good choices. Even if you decide to splurge a bit, you will do it from a point of choice, not unconscious behavior. This process makes you conscious of what you are doing.

1. Focus on what you’ll wear. Visualize what you want to see yourself wearing that day, make sure that you wear something that reminds you of your body. The object of doing this is actually two fold. First it is to focus on something other than what you are going to eat. When you arrive at a get together looking and feeling great, whatever your weight, you will arrive with more resources as opposed to looking like you just threw something together. The second reason is to make you conscious of what you are eating by being able to create a physical reminder for yourself to limit your food intake by wearing something with a tighter waist.

2. Get a bit more exercise throughout the week to balance out this meal. Don’t go nuts. Perhaps add another 10 minutes of activity each day. The purpose of doing this is just to keep you mentally in check and make you accountable to your choices. By already investing extra time and more activity, you’ll be less likely to overeat to the point of misery.

3. Eat a small snack to keep your hunger under control. I tend to favor low calorie comfort foods, like a bowl of soup another thing that really works well for me is a packet of instant oatmeal, I even travel with it and enjoy that on a plane along with a cup of peppermint tea. It reminds me of being in my Nana’s (Grandma’s) kitchen when I was a ittle girl. For that very same reason, I eat it often to give me that sense of self nurtuing that my inner child craves.

Your choice is probably different from mine but I am recommending that you find a low calorie substitute to give you a sense of being nurtured. It could be drinking broth, eating a bowl of soup, eating a vegetable stew, a couple of slices of toast with some jelly or some other thing that will fill a deeper need inside of you, as opposed to just feeding your physical hunger. Think about what you eat when you want to nurture youself when you are sick and plan to eat that slowly and consciously.

The purpose of doing that is to be able to satisfy that part of you that suffers from feelings of deprivation. It’s that part of your psyche that will reach out for food and seek that out as comfort and lose control because of feeling so deprived. This way you already begin to put in place an anchor of self love and treating yourself with respect and honor. By eating something that reminds you of being loved and safe, you will fill a deeper hunger and you will arrive at the get together ready to engage with people as opposed to seeing out food for comfort.

The following is the actual strategy for Mental Rehearsal.

1. Run a movie of the event in your mind Imagine seeing yourself watching a movie of this event. Watch the image of yourself on the screen as you arrive at your destination, see the image of yourself and notice what you do when you feel satisfied after enjoying a special nurturing snack that reminds you of a time when you were comforted. Notice what evidence there is around you showing that you are feeling secure and happy, connected to your goals and seeing the bigger picture of how you respond to this event as a thinner person. Continue to watch the movie and notice yourself greeting people, and hearing yourself saying things that you might want to say, focus on looking for the details around you, visualize seeing yourself making wise choices, having fun, enjoying everyone’s company, laughing and being in control, then going home and being satisfied and continuing the rest of the evening feeling fully satisfied and in control and acknowledging yourself for a job well done and seeing yourself waking up the next day feeling proud and ready to begin your day feeling great and strong.

2. After you finish watching the movie, step into it, and rehearse your response in your imagination. Now see what you will see from your own eyes and hear what you will hear, and tune into your body and notice the sensations of how you feel and notice what you are doing and how you are making choices and what beliefs are driving those choices.

I think of this process like walking in the snow. It is so much easier to tread on a spot where you already see a footprint. This is what you are doing, you are setting down footrprints in your mind and by rehearsing the events in your imagination, you’ve already tread on that spot, in your mind, and achieved the goal. You have already accomplished it. My nana always used to say, “Once begun, half done.” Remember to follow this technique up with the next post describing how to use EFT with Mental Rehearsal for maximum impact. Have fun!

Weight Loss with Dietrine

How does Dietrine
work?

During the digestive process, your body converts carbohydrates,
found in starchy foods such as potatoes and pasta, into sugar.
Your body does this by breaking-down the carbohydrate molecule
with alpha amylase, an enzyme that is produced in the pancreas.

These sugar calories are either burned off, through exercise, or
stored as fat cells for future use. Unfortunately, inactivity
means that these stored fat cells accumulate. The result is
weight gain.

Dietrine Carb Blocker with Phase 2®, an exclusive, all-natural
nutritional ingredient extracted from white kidney beans,
“neutralizes” the digestive enzyme alpha amylase before it can
convert starch into glucose and then fat. Essentially, it allows
the carbohydrates to pass through the system with less caloric
intake.* The Phase 2® starch blocker has been clinically proven
to reduce the absorption of starch by 66%-75% resulting in
significantly less net caloric intake.

The Pain of Instant Gratification

What a great world we live in. You want something, you get it! You need
something, you buy it! You don’t have money, you charge it!

You don’t deny yourself anything……do you? Why should you? If it feels good -do it!

Right?

WRONG!

As we have found out over the years, feeling good and being good for you are two
different things.

So, let’s take this one step further. As our DietDivas members already know, “A
minute on the lips-a lifetime on the hips!”

That is so true. It tastes good for one split second. But it ruins your whole
mental outlook. So that one second of instant gratification just cost you more
than you bargained for.

It really cost you a few extra pounds, it cost you a feeling of dismay, it will
probably cost you the whole day of “cheating” on your diet.
Is it worth it?

If your Doctor told you that eating that bag of chips would cause you to keel
over in pain right away…….would you still eat the chips? Of course not! Well,
I am telling you that eating that whole bag of chips will cause your mind to
keel over! Eating that bag of chips or cookies or pint of ice cream right now
will set off the following signals to your brain:

1. I am a failure
2. I knew I couldn’t stick to anything
3. I will never lose weight
4. This just doesn’t work
5. I will remain fat forever!

All of the above signals just hit your brain. Was that instant gratification
really worth it?
If you can step back for a minute and just think about it you
won’t eat the foods that are hurting you. Count to ten before you open that
bag. Drink a glass of water and take a walk before you eat that candy bar.
Send the correct signals to your brain.
I WANT TO SUCCEED!

This will be a great year for you.

Can Magnetic Therapy Help Sufferers of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

What is chronic fatigue syndrome?

We all get tired. Many of us have felt depressed at times. But the mystery known as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is not like the normal ups and downs we experience in everyday life. The early sign of this illness is a strong and noticeable fatigue that comes on suddenly and often comes and goes or never stops. You sometimes feel too tired to do normal activities or are easily exhausted with no apparent reason. Unlike the mind fog of a serious hangover, to which researchers have compared CFS, the profound weakness of CFS does not go away with a few good nights of sleep. Instead, it slyly steals your energy and vigour over months and sometimes years.

Causes of Chronic fatigue

For many people, CFS can begin after a bout with a minor illness such as a cold, or an intestinal bug. Often, people say that their illnesses started during a period of high stress. In others, CFS develops more gradually, with no clear illness or other event starting it. While no one knows what causes CFS, for more than a century, doctors have reported seeing illnesses similar to it. In the 1860s, Dr. George Beard named a similar or identical syndrome “neurasthenia” because he thought it was a nervous disorder with weakness and fatigue.

In the mid-1980s, health experts labelled the illness “chronic EBV” infection when laboratory clues led scientists to wonder whether the Epstein-Barr virus (EBV), one of the causes of infectious mononucleosis, might be causing this group of symptoms. Evidence soon cast doubt on this theory.

Magnetic treatments for chronic fatigue syndrome

Successful treatment for chronic fatigue syndrome depends on increasing energy levels. Drinking magnetic water will increase energy levels and reduce tiredness.

One of the many benefits of drinking magnetised water is that it eliminates toxins in the body. Your body stores harmful toxins with in the tissues of the skin. These toxins are potentially harmful to your body and can not be safely detoxified by the liver. When you drink magnetised water the size of the water molecule is increased and its ability to absorb toxins is much greater, so as the magnetism flows around your body harmful toxins are drawn out of the tissues and safely transported to the kidneys for excretion from the body.

You can lose as much as 2 litres (4 pints) of excess fluid that you don’t need. Once the excess fluid has been eliminated the heart does not have to work so hard and blood pressure reduces, energy levels automatically increase as the body does not have to use up so much energy for basic functions. You will feel less tired, sleeping will be easier and generally you will have a great sense of wellbeing. Many people with chronic fatigue find that with just a few weeks of drinking between 4-6 glasses of magnetised water a day they can return to many of their previous activities, even return to work.

The effects of the magnetised water will dissipate fairly quickly with chronic fatigue sufferers, so to ensure energy levels remain at normal it is recommended to drink magnetic water permanently.

Teflon Pans Cause Cancer? Rumor and Truth

If you have heard rumors that your Teflon pans will give you cancer, relax. PFOA (perfluorooctanoic acid, a suspected carcinogen) is used to manufacture Teflon, but there is none present in the finished products. While the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is rightfully concerned about PFOA in the environment, you can continue to use your Teflon-lined pans without fear.

However, non-stick pans may release other toxic particles if they are used at very high heats, so they are not appropriate for deep-fat frying, broiling, grilling or similar high- temperature cooking methods. I recommend avoiding this type of cooking anyway, because high heat and browning can form carcinogens in foods regardless of the type of cookware you use.

Browning foods that contain starches or sugars causes sugars to stick to protein to form advanced glycated end products, also known as AGEs. Burning fat when you grill or broil meats or other foods causes polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH’s). Bothe AGEs and PAHs are potent known carcinogens. When you use water-based cooking methods, (steaming, simmering or boiling) that do not involve browning, you do not form AGEs or PAHs. That’s why the most healthful foods are those that are prepared with liquids or eaten raw.

Baby scanning - babyultrasound.co.uk

The method know as three dimensional ultrasound scanning is used in early pregnancy, providing 3 d pictures of the fetus. Most times the ultrasound samples are captured and joined together and animated to produce a “4d ultrasound”.

Three dimensional scanning works in the same manner to the usual ultrasound methods except that the ultrasound scanning waves are directed from multiple directions. The ultrasound pulses can be redirected back then captured to provide information to construct a 3 d picture in in a similar manner to 3d pictures. 3 dimesional ultrasound was started by stephen smith and olaf von ramm.

It’s important to understand that sonologists worldwide always pictured 3d pictures of anatomy or pathology in their minds whilst doing 2d scans. However, until recently it was very difficult to do this kind of reconstruction on on info using ultasound scanning. With the introduction of baby scans for the first time allowed us a view into the thinking of a sonologist and hence letting us see the images on the ultrasound machine.

3d imaging should utilize ultrasound energy following the same limits as conventional 2d ultrasound to create the 3d images. There is no data to suggest harm due to 3d ultasound scanning, its use in none essential situations should be undertaken with an understanding of the risks that exist.

Healing Power of Asanas (Part III)

Sarvagasana (Shoulder stand pose):

In Sanskrit ’sarva’ means whole and ‘anga’ means limb. Almost all parts of the body are involved in and benefit from this asana. Lie flat on your back with your arms by the side, palms turned down. Bring your legs up slowly to a 90 o angle and then raise the rest of the body by pushing the legs up and resting their raise the rest of the body by pushing the legs up and resting their weight on the arms. Fix your chin in jugular notch, and use your
arms and hands to support the body at the hip region. The weight of the body should rest on your head, back and shoulders, your arms being used merely for balance. The trunk and legs should be in a straight line. The body, legs, hips and trunk should be kept as vertical as possible. Focus your eyes on your big toes. Press your chin against your chest. Hold the pose for one to three minutes. Return to the starting position slowly
