A Pack of Bicycle Cards for Me

I am starting to worry about the recent commercialization of the online poker industry. I can give the online poker world a little bit of leeway when it is exploring new territory with new technology. For example, online poker casinos are something new and different. They can try all the new things that they want. But don’t mess with my classic home game. My home game was the one single poker game that I could always count on to deliver the experience that I like. It was simple, it was basic, and it was predictable. My basic home game, however, was changed forever when I encountered custom cards. Someone I know pulled out a deck the other day that had pictures on the back. I was appalled. I asked where he had gotten these cards, and he replied that they were all the rage. Apparently everyone these days is ordering cards that are customized to their personal whims. If you are willing to put a bit of money on the table you can get anything you want from the poker commercial scene. This is not the way the poker should be. Poker should be about the classic card experience. Give me a basic pack of bicycle cards any day.

Why Do People Play the Lottery when the Odds Are so Long?

Prize draws are now extremely popular throughout the planet. So much so the prize draws are oftentimes on live television during prime times so everybody can sit down and excitedly mark off the numbers they have picked out. However, even though the UK’s lottery tagline is “It could be you”, it well-nigh on surely won’t be - even if you played the national lottery all your life and never missed a week. Most individuals play the lottery merely for fun, and at the same time keeping alive the pipe dream of feasibly retiring early. A lot of people don’t simply purchase a lottery ticket - they’re also purchasing hope.

While such huge lotteries genuinely make it next to impossible to win for every individual taking part, there are prize draws online which DO present you with a good chance of acquiring very good items , for example a car, holiday or even a luxury house. These kinds of draws - while not promising you millions of pounds - will give you a very good chance of winning. To add to that, one normally has to correctly answer some questions prior to being granted into the draw itself. - so some skill is called for.

So it’s a good idea to view what’s available online. Just type in keywords into Google such as prize draw competitions UK and you’ll promptly find many competitions available to take part in.

Finding Your Best Poker Game Online

Online poker sites offer players a good perspective about cash tables even before you join one. Most online poker rooms detail statistical information about the tables, such as number of players, percentage of players after the flop, average pot size, and hands per hour. These are key indicators about the tone of the table. A loose poker table will be characterized by a higher percentage of players who remain after the flop. If there is a low percentage of players after the flop, then it is a tighter table. The average pot size reveals how aggressive the betting might be. At small limit tables, a pot more than 15x the minimum bet (i.e. 1-2 blinds, with pots above 30) indicate aggressive raising at the table. It’s hard to discern the relationship to pot size and betting in no-limit games since the betting action can swing from one extreme to another. The poker hands per hour lets you know the speed of table, which can vary depending on the players. The more hands per hours, the faster the play and the more blinds you will pay at that table. If the hands-per-hour is higher than others in the same category, and the average pot size is high, then you know there are fast, loose players at that table. Check out these statistics before choosing a table since you might find one table is better suited to your style of play than others.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: a Classic Poker Story

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas: A Savage Journey to the Heart of the American Dream by Hunter S. Thompson stands as the classic testament to what it means to be a poker en ligne player. It is the story of a drug-fueled trip to Las Vegas that is primarily shaped through autobiographical episodes. The psychedelic aspects of the story should not be replicated in real life, but the novel still has many themes that speak to the modern jeux de casino and poker player. One of the most striking themes in the novel is the sense of exhilaration and wonderment that Las Vegas inspires. Most poker players experience the same things when they go to Las Vegas today, even though it has been over thirty years since the novel was published. In so many ways, this is actually the most important idea that modern poker players can draw from this classic story of Las Vegas. In the novel, Thompson has adventures that would be described in modern poker terms as “tilting”. Going on tilt should always be avoided, as it means that you are unable to control your circumstances. You need to stay in control when you go to Las Vegas, and not follow the example of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas too closely.

Hand Analysis - KJ V 7,Five

Tournament details: 4,000 poker chip starting stack. One rebuy, one add on. Rebuy is first 3 levels.

During rebuy period:

Player A Doubled up early at the casino and was up to 8k+. Later on he gets involved in a hand playing online poker with 7,5 suited by calling a small raise in position. He flops an open-ended straight draw. His opponent, Player B, continue bets on K,6,4 board. Player A considers shoving. Player B has about 6500.

Player A flat calls the continuation bet and now gets heads up. The bet on the flop was less than the pot.

Turn is a 7. Player A has a pair and the open-ended draw. Now his outs include 7,5,3,8. Player B bets pot, and Player A shoves all in, having player B covered. Player B calls with KJ. River blanks.

What is the best play, and at what stage? Should Player A have shoved on the flop?

Firstly, Player A did not have to play the hand to begin with. He decided that during the rebuy period, he could take a chance at stacking an opponent for a small price preflop.

I asked him what his ideal flop would be, and he said it would be very similar to the one he got. Flopping the draw to the nuts is one of your goals when calling with speculative hands. Since he was in position, how he played would be very dependant on how aggressively Player B would play his hand.

Team Poker

This past superbowl, I played in a team poker tournament. Even though acquired the 2nd most points for the day, I made no money whatsoever:

There were 4 teams of 5. Similarly to shoot-out tournaments, the game would begin as separate sit and go’s and condense to a final poker table. There were two 10-person sit and go’s running at a time, each were filled by random draws, so you could easily be playing against teammates.

The top 5 poker players from each sit and go would get points based on what rank they come in. Then after those two sit and go’s were completed, another round of randomly drawn sit and go’s would be played, with the exact same point distribution. The 10 players with the most points would get to the final table, where 1-5 would get cash prizes as well as points just like the previous round. A small side pool was set aside for the team that acquired the most points throughout all 3 rounds of play.

On my first table draw, I was the only of my team at my table. That meant many of my 9 opponents were teammates. Somehow I managed to get evade all team cohorts and came in first for 36 points. In the 2nd sit and go I played against 2 of my teammates and got 4th for 8 points, having 44 total. And in the last round I took a bad beat early and made no money and got no more points. My team ended up losing the points race by 8 points or so. We had 3/10 at the final table from our team. Another had 4/10 and had us beat in points, so they were our obvious competition.

Though the payouts and the team side pool was lopsided, it was an interesting formula that I would try again. Poker is such an individual sport, that the idea of team strategy is pretty novel. Especially when playing against your own teammates.

Blackjack and POker Basics

When I first started gambling playing poker and blackjack, I thought that it was a crapshoot. If you got decent starting cards, you would do well, and if you got a bust hand, then you were most likely screwed. The excitement for me came when you made a stupid hit and lucked out with a small card instead of busting. Needless to say, I the novelty quickly wore off and I chose to stick with poker, only playing blackjack when I had a minimal time to play and a few bucks to throw away.

Eventually I decided to try blackjack with a more systematic approach, and I found that when you play the odds, things get a lot more interesting-and lucrative. Here are a few things to watch out for:

-The first thing is to always assume that any card you can’t see is a ten. More often than not, like in poker you’ll be right.

The dealer’s cards: -If he’s got a bust card (4 through 6), assume that he’ll bust. Don’t knock yourself out trying to get to 21. It’s also a good idea to double down and split if you can. -If he’s got a stay card showing (7 through 10), then try to at least match him, if he’s got a seven then draw until you have at least 17. It’s worth risking the bust. -Be careful if the dealer shows a 2 or 3. They’re usually called the dealer’s Ace, and for good reason. The dealer’s worst case in this situation is having a 12 or 13, and even then there are a lot of cards that can save his hand. I always try to get my card value as high as possible when I see those cards.

Poker and Relationships, Chips and Colours

Chips become an involved task of learning. The color of the chips can bring joy or sadness if gained or lost. Adding, subtracting brought into one’s life again by simply betting on a poker hand.

The things you learned when you were younger, suddenly reappear in online poker. How to react to someone, how to add, subtract and even how to lie. All things learned when you were a child.

Sitting and looking at the computer monitor can remind you of how you first learned to work a computer. Seeing the images of the cards that play your hand in poker, can bring back how you first learned how images worked on your pc. Everything comes back in array of chips, tables, cards and characters of the players.

Learning to play poker is a relationship with you and the cards. Just like a child when you learned how to first form friendships. Poker can reestablish the thrill of being able to interact with your first friend.

Poker can also remind you of when you had a first fight with your friend. You learned how to deal with an argument. In poker, you learn how to deal with why or how you may have lost that hand. A relationship breaker or a new step in your involvement is made.
