One Man’s Astounding Story — Steve Schwarzman
Stephen Schwarzman’s story is one of success and a strong work ethic. In 2008 Stephen was ranked fifty-three on Forbes’ list of America’s richest people, even so it is his tremendous success in the finance world as well as his donations to non profit organizations that make this tale different. Steve’s biography shows everyone that the most important character traits in achieving success are devotion to work and unequivocal dedication. The Blackstone Group was initially founded by Stephen Schwarzman and Peter Peterson as a company offering up top of the market investment advice and private equity management. With the market maturing, it has grown into a world leader in m&a, but note that Stephen did not start out managing his own business. Stephen spent his childhood years in the state of Pennslyvania. He went on to receive his degree from Yale University in 1969. Harvard Business School was the natural next step in his education, here he graduated in 1972. Then Stephen joined at Lehman Brothers investment bank, located in New York City. Stephen was appointed a managing director at the young age of only thirty-one. Stephen A. Schwarzman gave his time as an adjunct professor at the venerable Yale School of Management and also gives financial support to many charities, educational programs, and the arts. He serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the JFK Center for the Performing Arts in Manhattan. In addition, he announced in March of 2008 that he was committing $100 million to the New York Public Library to help fund their expansion. Stephen is also one of the trustees of the library. Stephen is nowadays an inspiration to a new generation of entrepreneurs — Times Magazine last year named Stephen as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. His swift rise in the business and financial industries is nothing short of spectacular, and without a shadow of a doubt his generosity has given Americans a new standard to abide by from now on.
